Viagogo Enters US Secondary Ticket Market

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Europe’s leading ticket reseller Viagogo, launched by StubHub founder Eric Baker after a falling out with former partner Jeff Fluhr, has entered the U.S. marketing with a $30 million funding deal and a partnership with the Cleveland Browns.

The company’s previous clientele include various European sports teams like Manchester United and music giants like Peter Gabriel and Warner Music Group. The company hopes to tap into the secondary market in the U.S. by promising better experiences for event goers, promoters and labels alike.

“No one has stepped up to take on the challenge of building a truly international secondary ticket company until now,” Baker, Viagogo’s founder and CEO, said in a statement. “The U.S. is desperately in need of an experienced competitor that will change the outdated standards that American consumers are forced to accept.”

Baker sold StubHub to eBay in 2006 for $300 million. The company recently became the exclusive ticket provider for Major League Baseball. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
