Ice Cube Concert Fought By New Zealand Politician

AUCKLAND, NZ (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — New Zealand mayoral candidate Len Brown has called to cancel an upcoming Ice Cube concert, claiming the rapper’s lyrics advocate the gangster lifestyle and could be detrimental to a community already plagued by gangs and violence.

The politicians protests have fallen on deaf ears, however, as the venue has announced no plans to stop the concert, referring to the rapper’s clean criminal record and its doubts that his lyrics will encourage any trouble.

Brown pressured the owners of the TelestraClear Pacific Events Centre to cancel the event, but TelestraClear CEO Richard Jeffery told Television New Zealand that the company is not concerned about the show. He said his company is not in the business of censorship and that people concerned about the problems facing the youth of Auckland should focus on busting troublemakers, not music.

The concert is scheduled to take place in Auckland on August 22. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
