Sockers Get Socked For Unpaid Rent

SAN DIEGO, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The San Diego Sockers, an indoor soccer team, were forced to postpone their game on Saturday because of rent owed to the venue they play in, the Sport Arena.

The governing body of the Sockers’ league, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), announced the postponement after a phone conference of the League’s Management Committee. The game was postponed due to $20,000 in unpaid rent by Sockers owner Raj Kalra, who also failed to submit a standard $400,000 letter of credit to the MISL.

“There was a vigorous discussion among the League’s Management Committee to evaluate all the issues related to the San Diego Sockers situation,” said MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan. “The Management Committee is clearly dissatisfied that the Team is in such a precarious position. However, several options are under review for which the Member Clubs felt more time was needed to come to a satisfactory resolution and thus Saturday’s game has been postponed. The Committee expressed a prevailing desire to exhaust all possible options to allow the Sockers to move forward with their season and to continue building on its rich history and tradition in San Diego.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
