LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Endeavor has slimmed down its client roster, cutting over 100 talent and literary clients in both its film and television departments in recent weeks.
Agency insiders told Variety that the move was motivated simply by efficiency, with agents believing they will be more effective by focusing on fewer clients.
The magazine is quick to point out that although the number seems high, particularly at a season when production is in high gear, this round of cutbacks will claim less than 15% of the agency’s total roster.
Agents were reportedly told two months ago to begin trimming clients “whose interests are not being well served by the agency.”
Other agencies follow similar protocol, including moves made by Endeavor in the past, though such a large number at once is uncommon.
Film and television production companies are currently bulking up on work in fear of a 2008 strike, pushing rival agencies to speculate that Endeavor is preparing for a potential dip in commission next year. If true, other agencies may soon follow suit. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
