Ben Weiss Named GM Of Mullins Center

AMHERST, MA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – Billboard.biz is reporting that Global Spectrum has promoted Ben Weiss to GM of the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass. He will report to Global Spectrum Northeast regional GM Brian Ohl, who also serves as GM of the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario.

Weiss will be responsible for day-to-day management and operations of the 10,0000-seat facility, which sits on the University of Massachusetts campus and houses the school's basketball and hockey teams. He will also work closely with UMASS' administration and athletic staff.

Most recently, Weiss served as assistant GM of the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J., where he worked directly with GM Jeff Schumacher to secure new events at the 10,500-seat facility. "He has built great relationships with event promoters over the last couple of years and he really makes sure that they are taken care of on event days," Schumacher recently told Billboard.

In his six years with Global Spectrum, Weiss has held many different titles. He first joined Sovereign Bank Arena in 2004, working in its production department as an event coordinator, and was promoted to senior event manager in February 2005. During that time, he and his staff managed concerts by Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears, Cheetah Girls, Keith Urban and Korn, among many others. In August 2006, he was elevated to assistant GM.

Weiss, who turns 30 years old next month, also made Billboard's "30 Under Thirty" list, which is featured in this week's magazine. The list highlights individuals in the music industry who are a driving force in their respective fields.

For the report, Global Spectrum COO John Page told Billboard: "Ben is a prime example of someone who has quickly excelled within the Global Spectrum ranks. We identify young enthusiastic and talented individuals and help groom them into future leaders of our company. Ben has a tremendous work ethic and is a natural leader."
