KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Two safes containing more than $20,000 have been stolen from the Starlight Theatre.
Officers said the thieves entered through a rear gate and used access codes to enter the office containing the safes. Police said the alarm to the building was not set over the weekend.
When workers arrived at the box office on Monday morning, they discovered the break-in.
Employees noticed the theft at 8 a.m. Police said the thieves appeared to have used an access code to gain entry to the office. Police also said they appeared to have used a dolly to cart off the safes.
Starlight President Bob Rohlf said the theatre has never had an incident such as this before.
"This does not happen. Been here almost 28 years," Rohlf said.
