X Japan Files Suit Against Nexstar

TOKYO, Japan (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Almost three years into their comeback, Japanese heavy metal outfit X Japan frontman Yoshiki Hayashi has filed suit against the band's management company Nexstar, seeking 375 million yen in compensation for allegedly unpaid royalties and other payments, the Hong Kong Daily News reported.

When Japan X reunited, they signed with Nexstar, who reportedly agreed to handle the band's merch sales and to help underwrite their conference, pledging an advance of 600 million yen but the band is now claiming to have never received this money.

Yoshiki's suit claims that Nexstar, astonishingly, has sold more than 25 billion yen ($267 million USD) in tickets and merch in the past two years.

Although the band has been in demand since reforming and signed with Irving Azoff's Front Line, they have a inconsistent touring record, having been forced to cancel or reschedule numerous dates due to health issues and other reasons.

In February, the band announced that they planned to relocate to Los Angeles ahead of planned performances at this year's Lollapalooza. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
