W Hotels Hire Global Music Director

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — W Hotels Worldwide has tapped Michaelangelo L'Acqua as the first Global Music Director for the hotel chain.

In his new role, L'Acqua will be looking to help the upscale boutique hotel chain to expand on their music offerings by producing live performances for the chain and even DJing. W Hotels has a history of hosting live gigs on their properties dubbed Wanderlust Live, featuring artists such as Natasha Bedingfeld, Gavin DeGraw, and Peter Bjorn and John.

W Hotels has always had an emphasis on entertainment and was the first hotel chain to produce their own branded series of compilation CDs with the sixth installment, "The Sound of Wonderlust" dropping last year. L'Acqua will be producing the seventh CD in the series.

L'Acqua, who holds a degree from The New School Jazz & Contemporary Music Program has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion, producing over 150 fashion shows in Paris, Milan, Berlin and New York for the likes of Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, John Varvatos, Jil Sander, Chanel and others.

L'Acqua will be based out of the hotel chain's Hollywood property.

He also served as a producer on The Isley Brothers' "Taken To The Next Phase" remix project for Sony Music Entertainment's Legacy Recordings, and L'Acqua recently executive produced a large scale concept record for EMI/Capitol Records, Re:Generations: the Nat King Cole Remix Project, bringing on board the talents of such artists as Cee-Lo, The Roots, will.i.am with Natalie Cole, TV On The Radio, and Brazilian Girls, among others. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
