D.C. Indie Club The Black Cat Drops Ticketmaster

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The D.C. venue The Black Cat is dropping Ticketmaster in exchange for to Ticket Alternative for its ticket sales for all shows, commencing on September 25th.

The switch will see Black Cat tickets come for a little less money with tickets over 20 dollars carrying a 3 dollar service charge, 11-20 dollars will cost an additional 2.50 while tickets under 10 dollars will have a $2 dollar service fee. Tickets to the venue purchased through Ticketmaster came with a $4.50 fee attached.

When asked by a music blogger from the A.V. Club about the shift, Black Cat owner Dante Ferrando stated that the impending merger deal between Live Nation and Ticketmaster was the driving force behind the move.

"Even if I didn’t dislike the company and the way they do business, I don’t think I could work with a company that is my competitor," Ferrando told the A.V. Club. "I’m not really in the habit of giving competitors money."

Ironically, Ticket Alternative is powered by Paciolan software, a company Ticketmaster purchased in 2006. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
