Swedish Chairman For IMMF

GR0NINGEN, Netherlands (VIP) — The International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) held its General Assembly in Groningen, Netherlands, on Thursday January 10th 2008.

Petri H. Lundén who represents artists including The Cardigans and Europe was elected as Chairman. Lundén has vast managerial & industry experience.

Currently, he is also Executive Chairman of Hagenburg Law Media and Management, a Non-executive Director of TixDaq and owner/co-founder of KlickTrack download technologies.

Retiring Chair Peter Jenner said : “These are exciting times. Petri is an excellent choice and I know that he will continue all the important work that the IMMF has undertaken. The future of the music business presents many problems, and Petri is the right man to overcome them”

Petri H. Lundén said: “The possibilities for artist managers and their clients are endless; my aim is that we assist our global MMF members to avoid the pitfalls, sharing ideas and education, ensuring that this and future generations of managers are creating and championing new playing fields for artists.”

The meeting commended retiring chair Peter Jenner for his work and gave him the honorary position of Emeritus President. Peter Jenner is a constant worldwide speaker & panelist on management issues and concerns.He manages Billy Bragg and has represented artists including Pink Floyd and The Clash.

Long time retiring Executive Director Michael McMartin (manager of the Hoodoo Gurus) was warmly thanked for his contribution to the organisation and will continue to be involved as the Vice Chair for Africa/Asia. Jake
Beaumont-Nesbitt- MMF UK board member and Managing Director at International Royalties Rescue was elected Executive Director.

Other IMMF Executive /Secretariat members David Stopps(UK)-Director of Copyrights/WIPO representative, Brian Hetherman(Canada)- Vice –Chair Americas, Volker May(Germany)-Vice-Chair Europe and Steve Garvan-(US) Director of Communications- retain their positions for 2008.

The IMMF is a non-governmental organization (with full representation at WIPO on behalf of managers) which has as its members 15 federations of music managers at the national level from 14 countries at present. Those federations, in turn, have as members the individual managers and management companies represented in their geographic area. The IMMF was created to ensure the safeguarding, respect and protection of the moral and professional interests of its members and the worldwide community of artists they represent.
