Office Depot Center Gets Curtain

SUNRISE, FL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Office Depot Center is adding a curtain that will allow the venue to be more versatile. Dropping the curtain will reduce the size of the venue from 20,000 seats to as small as 2,500 seats.

In addition to the curtain, a new stage, new seating configurations and new sound and lighting systems will be added over the next few months. “The Office Depot Theater will add another dimension to our venue and its programming,” Office Depot Center Chief Operating Officer Michael Yormark said. “It will allow us to book some midsize shows and plays that will provide South Floridians with even more entertainment options. This is a natural progression for our business as we continue to be one of the busiest buildings in the nation. This will help us approach or exceed 200 events a year.”

The venue expects to add another 30 to 35 shows, of which 20 to 25 will be available on a season series subscription running from September through May. The remaining shows will be a mix of comedy acts, children’s shows, off-broadway plays, midsize concerts, speakers and musicals.

Eliot Weisman, President of Premier Artist Services, Inc., has been recruited to head up the new project and help with booking the theater. “Theater-goers who frequented the former Sunrise Musical Theater will be excited about the return of this type of programming,” Weisman said. “We’ll be offering some very similar types of shows and attractions that were so successful just a few miles down the road at the Sunrise Theater.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
