KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A Muslim student group is pushing to cancel pop star Gwen Stefani’s planned concert in Kuala Lumpur, claiming the singer’s sexy style and provocative lyrics are too racy for the country.
“Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene,” Mohamad Milmi Ramli, president of the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students, told Reuters. “We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene.”
Just over half of Malaysia’s 26 million citizens consider themselves Muslim, with Buddhists, Christians and Hindus composing sizeable minorities.
Stefani is set to perform on August 21st at the city’s Putra Stadium. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
