Major Shakeup At Twitter As Senior Executives Exit

SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) – Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey took to the social media service late Sunday to confirm that four of the company's top executives were exiting the firm. As well, the head of Vine – a service for short videos that Twitter acquired in 2012, has also left.

The four executives departing Twitter are: Kevin Weil (head of product); Katie Jacobs Stanton (head of media); Alex Roetter (head of engineering); and Skip Schipper (head of HR). Re/Code reported that some of the departures were willing and some not. Vine's Jason Toff tweeted that he was leaving the firm, to join Google.

“All four of them will be taking some well-deserved time off,” said Mr. Dorsey Tweeted.

The departure of so many of the company's senior executives comes as Twitter is facing an existential crisis. The firm's stock is trading near all-time lows and it has struggled to generate continued user growth and momentum.

The company is also reportedly in the midst of a fundamental evaluation of its platform, with an eye towards making it more accessible to the mainstream, including changes to core features such as expanding the length of tweets from its current maximum of 140 characters to a much longer format, the New York Times reported. – Staff Writers
