Goo Goo Dolls' Rzeznik Goes Disney

WASHINGTON (AP) — Goo Goo Dolls front man John Rzeznik is making an improbable leap, writing children's music for an upcoming Disney film.

Rzeznik, who has scored such hits as "Iris" and "Slide" with the Goo Goo Dolls, wrote two songs for the animated film "Treasure Planet."

"It was really interesting to watch them put together this really elaborate, animated thing. And then put your two cents into it. It was a lot of fun. I was really proud that I got to do it," Rzeznik told The Associated Press.

Rzeznik will put his own stamp on the genre, though, so don't expect anything resembling "Hakuna Matata."

"It's a little bit different. It's not as show-tuney as that. But they're songs for kids," he said.

The experience has given Rzeznik a glimpse of life after rock stardom, something he been considering lately.

"When this is over I still want to be a songwriter, you know. That's really what I consider myself. Whether I'm going to be a performer for the next 10 years, I don't know," he said.

"Being on tour and all that, it's kind of difficult. I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking about having kids and stuff someday. and I don't want to be leaving them for a year."
