EMF MAN DEAD

According to NME former EMF bass player ZAC FOLEY died yesterday (January 3). He was 31.

There are scant details available at present about the circumstances of his death. A message posted on the official EMF website www.emf-theband.com reads simply:

"Unfortunately, I have to confirm rumors that Zac passed away this morning. They are not rumors, they are in fact true. Zac was 31 years old. More as it becomes available.

"He will always be in our hearts. WE LOVE YOU ZAC!"

A spokesperson for EMF's former label EMI could not be reached at press time.

EMF, standing for either Epsom Mad Funkers or Ecstasy Mind Fuckers, are best known for the 1990 hit 'Unbelievable', an international best seller that topped the US charts. The band could never repeat the success of their debut outing and they effectively split in 1995.

However, they re-convened for a brief UK tour in 2001, a jaunt that coincided with the release of Greatest Hits compilation, 'Epsom Mad Funkers – The Best Of EMF'. The band were also rumored to have been working on new material.
