eircom Net Launches Ireland's First On-Line Music Store

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — eircom net, Ireland's leading ISP, has launched its new online music store, the music club. The site is Ireland's first online music store to offer legal music downloads approved and licensed by the major record companies. Catering for all musical tastes and offering 250,000 tracks by some 8,500 artists worldwide, the music club will have all the latest releases six weeks before they become available in the shops.

From as little as euro 0.68, customers can download any track from the extensive music library and burn their own CDs or load onto mobile music players. This represents a saving of up to 50% on high street prices. An interactive tutorial demonstrates how to access the music by means of the special credits which are bought on the site. Once purchased these credits can be used to listen to songs online, temporarily download music onto home PCs or permanently download songs onto CDs. Before choosing to download or listen to their favorite song, visitors can avail of a 30 second free preview clip.

Commenting at the launch of the music club, Fintan Lawler, managing director, eircom net, said: "We are delighted to add the music club to our suite of content at www.eircom.net. This new development now makes broadband a must for all music lovers allowing them download their favorite songs from a collection of 250,000 in a minute, up to 10 times faster than a traditional dial up connection. The massive selection features something to suit all tastes from Pavarotti to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kylie or Westlife at prices which are up to 50% cheaper than high street prices."

The eircom net music club runs on a credit system allowing users to purchase credits on a pay as you go basis or by monthly subscription. For 1 credit customers can stream or listen to a full song while on-line. 10 credits allows music lovers to temporarily download a track on to their PC. Depending on the artist, songs can be downloaded permanently for between 99 and 189 credits. –Bob Grossweiner and jane Cohen
