Dr. Dre Seeks Records From Death Row

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Dr. Dre has launched legal action to try obtain documents from Death Row Records to ascertain if the company owes him money.

According to Billboard, the dispute centers around a Dre album, "Chronic." Dre, a fifty percent owner in Death Row, ceded the company distribution rights for the record in exchange for royalties. Then in 1996, Dre parted ways with Death Row with Dre selling his ownership stake but he retained his rights to royalties for all the music he produced during his tenure at the record label.

Now he's claiming that Death Row hasn't delivered on their royalty obligations. He has also raised issue with Death Row's court-appointed bankruptcy administrator asking to sell the company’s catalog to Warner Music Group for $25 million. Dre says that this would violate his distribution agreement he has for his music with Death Row. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
