City Offers Compromise Deal To Fighting Promoters

At a November 7 Denver City Council meeting, a compromise deal was put on the table to Clear Channel Entertainment and the partnership of House of Blues Concerts and indie promoter Nobody In Particular Presents, calling for the dueling parties to offer $525,000 and get 10 priority dates each.

A week earlier on the eve of the city's decision, HOB's Barry Fey countered CCE's $640,000 annual guarantee to the city and at least 12 "priority dates" and submitted a last-minute $1 million offer for the first rights to book the venue.

Fey and NIPP now have until Nov. 26 to come up with the $525,000. If they're unable to, then any promoter, Fey included, has until Feb. 1 to come up with $640,000, which would be matched by CCE.

Clear Channel's Chuck Morris told the Denver Post CCE was willing to share the dates with Fey because it will be good for Red Rocks.

"We are willing to bend because Red Rocks is our home," Morris said. "Push comes to shove, it's still who gets the bands."

Fey said he'd be able to meet the first deadline.
