City Council Retains Luxury Seats At Shoreline

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — City Council members have voted to keep receiving luxury box concert tickets to the Shoreline Amphitheatre next year. The tickets, valued at $8,750, have been a perk for Mountain View City Counselors for almost 20 years.

Councilman Greg Perry noted that the tickets could be considered a conflict of interest as the Shoreline is located on city land and the city council often votes on requests from the venue. Nick Galiotto, another Councilman who contested the free tickets, suggested council members sell their tickets and donate the money to the city.

“I don't think we need to legislate morals,” said Councilman Mike Kasperzak who opposed any changes. Kasperzak added that each council member could choose to refuse the ticket if they felt it was a conflict of interest.

Councilwoman Rosemary Stasek, who will be leaving the city council, told the Mercury News, “I have been over the past eight years the most outspoken, consistent critic of the amphitheater and at the same time the most consistent user of the tickets.” She added that her ability to go to the concerts allowed her to stay better informed of what was happening at the venue.

Noting lack of public outrage the council voted to keep the current arrangement. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
