$1 Million Gift To Help Build Leach Amphitheatre

OSHKOSH, WI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — An anonymous donor has given $1 million to the Chamber’s Foundation in order to help with the construction of the new Leach Amphitheater in Oshkosh.

Oshkosh residents have already seen $3 million in public money spent on the project and are relieved that the venue will now be fully funded. “It’s nice to see that the financial burden isn’t falling to us,” local Glen Riddick told the Post-Crescent. “It will be a nice addition to downtown, especially since the city won’t have to bust their budget to pay for it.”

The gift came with a small catch; the donor asked that the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation give another $300,000 so there would be no remaining debt after construction. This money, along with the $1 million donation, will go towards decorative fences around the venue, lighting, concession buildings and pedestrian pathways.

The new $6.3 million venue is expected to open in the spring of 2005. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
