Ceiling Collapse Leaves Chicago Nightclub Temporarily Dark

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A Chicago nightclub has agreed to voluntarily close its doors until further notice in the wake of a partial collapse which sent three people to the hospital.

The Concord Music Hall was hosting a concert by DJ Datsik on February 8th when the collapse occurred, which Chicago police officials described as a piece of the ceiling of the venue falling onto the crowd.

Witness Ryan Chun told WMAQ-TV that the sound system was so loud and bass-heavy that “it literally shook the ceiling down.”

While there has yet to be an official word about the collapse, the venue issued a statement saying that a piece of plaster fell.

The statement from the Concord goes on to say that the venue will remain closed for the rest of the weekend to properly evaluate the structural integrity of the building.

The following shows have been affected:

Manowar (2/8/2014) has been moved to Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N Kedzie Blvd), and all tickets will be honored.

12th Planet (2/9/2014) has been cancelled and refunds are available at

A spokesman for the club went on to say that they didn't expect additional cancellations but will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of fans, artists, and staff members. – Staff Writers
