Sting was presented with the Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Award by Jordan's Queen Noor for his activism. Sting founded the Rainforest Foundation to safeguard the rights of indigenous peoples and the environment.

Plans are in the works to rename the New Orleans International Airport to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in honor of the jazz trumpeter's centennial birthday on Aug. 4. A number of jazz musicians, educators and historians have recommended the honor as a fitting celebration of Satchmo's 100th birthday.
