Bowie Tribute Concert Planned For Carnegie Hall


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — In a strange fluke of timing, a concert planned as a celebration to honor David Bowie's music will now serve as a memorial event for the late rock icon.

Organized by New York-based promoter Michael Dorf, The Music of David Bowie tribute concert will take place at New York’s Carnegie Hall on March 31st with a lineup that includes The Roots, The Mountain Goats, Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell, Jakob Dylan, Heart’s Ann Wilson, and several more as-yet-unannounced acts will come together to honor Bowie.

In a strange twist, the concert's lineup was announced on Monday just hours before the announcement of Bowie's death.

"The unexpected death of David Bowie has turned this tribute, which we have worked on for the past 7 months, into a memorial concert. While the series has featured surprise appearances and performances of honorees several times in the past, this year's concert will certainly be remembered as a poignant celebration of his music by his friends, peers and fans. We are deeply saddened by this news.
