Blue Rodeo Honored By Massey Hall

TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — While performing at the first of two sold-out concerts at Toronto’s historic Massey Hall, Canadian country-rock legends Blue Rodeo were presented with the second-ever Massey Hall Honours Award by President & CEO of the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, Deane Cameron.

The award puts Blue Rodeo in rarified company. The only other recipient of the honor is folk rocker Gordon Lightfoot, who was presented with the award in 2014.

Since their 1984 debut "Outskirts," Blue Rodeo has become a celebrated fixture of the Canadian music scene, releasing 14 studio albums and selling more than 3 million records over the course of their career. The group's February 18th concert at Massey Hall marks the 30th performance for the band at the venue.

“Blue Rodeo continues to be an ambassador for live music in our country and will continue to be for many more years to come,” remarked Cameron during the award presentation. “On behalf of all staff and fans, it is an honor that Massey Hall is a part of the Blue Rodeo story.”

The band released the following statement: “Thanks to Massey Hall and all the folks who work to bring this grand venue to life. We have played at Massey Hall many times and it never loses its thrill. It is always a privilege to stand on the stage of this beautiful hall." – Staff Writers
