Al Jarreau had emergency back surgery to relieve compression on his spinal cord at USC Medical Center in Los
Angeles, CA on September 12 at 5:30am PDT. Jarreau's surgeon emphasized that the operation is a common procedure and everything is expected to proceed without incident.
Jarreau was in the middle of a United States tour promoting the September 17 release of his new album, All I Got (GRP Records). His upcoming concerts in the United States will be rescheduled as soon as possible, while pending European dates will be pushed into 2003.
