22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations Anounced


LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — "Trumbo" the Bryan Cranston-led biopic about screenwriter Dalton Trumbo; and "Spotlight" a film about the Boston Globe's investigation of allegations of sexual abuse by priests led the nominations for the Screen Actors Guild when they eere announced Wednesday morning.

"Trumbo" earned three nods and "Spotlight," as well as films "The Big Short" and "Beasts of No Nation" picked up two each. Also getting two nominations: "Room," "Steve Jobs," "Carol" and "The Danish Girl."

Notably, Matt Damon's sci-fi thriller "The Martian" which dominated the box office for weeks earlier this year, was snubbed, receving no nominations at all.

Comedian Carol Burnett has been named as the recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award, SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute.

The SAG Awards are generally considered to be one of the bellwethers of what has come to be known as "awards season," which leads up to the Academy Awards nominations, which are due to be announced on January 14th.

The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
