NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — New Orleans-based funk/hip-hop group Tank and the Bangas made their late night debut on Thursday when they performed their new single “Nice Things” on The Tonight Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The hit is the latest cut from their forthcoming major label debut Green Balloon, which is set to be released on May 3rd via Verve.
The group, which is fronted by Tarriona “Tank” Ball also includes Joshua Johnson on drums and as musical director, Norman Spence on bass and synth keys, Jonathan Johnson on bass, Merell Burkett on keyboard, Joe Johnson on keyboard, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph and Kayla Buggage on background vocals, Albert Allenback on alto saxophone and flute, and Etienne Stoufflet on tenor saxophone.
While Green Balloon may be their first release on a major, it’s not the first for Tank and the Bangas, who released the debut album ThinkTank in 2013 via an indie label. In 2017, the group caught a wave after they won NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest for their song “Quick.”
Tank and the Bangas are currently on tour, with dates scheduled through late May, including festival plays at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Fortress Festival, and the Rhythm and Blooms Festival.
