LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — dick clark productions announced the return of their American Music Awards for 2019, with the show slated to be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 24 via ABC.

The American Music Awards honors artists in multiple musical genres, including Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM and Soundtrack, alongside awards for New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Tour of the Year, Video of the Year, Favorite Song and Artist of the Year.

Unlike many awards shows, the AMA’s nominees are based on fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

Winning nominees are then selected by votes cast by fans through the award show’s website instead of through selection panel of industry-centric judges, such as with the Grammy Awards.

The “2019 American Music Awards” is produced by dick clark productions.

The AMAs for 2019 will take place more than a month later than they were in 2018. The 2018 edition of the awards show, which was also staged at the Microsoft Theater, took place on October 9th, with comedian Tracee Ellis Ross handling the hosting duties.
