TWIN LAKES, Wis. (CelebrityAccess) — A female country music fan was struck by lightning at the County Thunder Music Festival in Twin Lakes, WI.
According to Fox5 News, 22-year-old Brittney Prehn was camping out at the four-day music festival when a storm with heavy rain and lightning rolled over the festival. Prehn reportedly took shelter in a tent, which, unfortunately, had metal support rods.
“It was torrential downpours. I mean, the lightning was huge and, yeah, it was pretty scary,” Lindsay Curtin another festival-goer told Fox5.
Prehn was discovered unconscious by her friends, who told Fox5 that the bolt appeared to have struck Prehn’s head and traveled down her body. She also suffered an injury to her foot after her cellphone, which she was keeping in her boot, exploded during the strike.
According to ABC, Prehn is being treated and recovering at Loyola University Medical Center.
The Wisconsin edition of the Country Thunder festival was held from July 19-22 and featured headliners Sam Hunt, Toby Keith, and Dierks Bentley.
