Cosby Trial Winds Down With A Setback For Defense

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CelebrityAccess) As the Bill Cosby retrial winds down, the judge ruled this morning that jurors will not hear old deposition testimony from a confidante of his chief accuser.

The decision is considered a blow to Cosby’s case, according to the Associated Press, because his attorneys have been working to discredit the credibility of the accuser.

Judge Steven O’Neill said there is “no persuasive” reason to have Cosby’s lawyer read Sheri Williams’ deposition into the record. They apparently expected Williams’ testimony to refute claims by Cosby’s accuser, Andrea Constand, that she was unaware that Cosby was romantically interested in her, that Constand “could not have been the unwitting victim” the prosecution has claimed.

Constand filed a civil lawsuit against Cosby in 20005 over a rape allegation; Cosby settled for nearly $3.4 million.

Cosby’s attorneys and publicists have taken to the media to plead their case, attacking Contand’s credibility, the AP noted.
