VERNON, N.Y. — Organizers for the Woodstock 50 festival were hit yet with another in a long line of setbacks on Thursday night when the town of Vernon rejected a second application for a temporary event permit.

As noted by Syracuse.com, the rejection is the second for the festival this week after town officials denied their first permit on Tuesday as incomplete and past the submission deadline.

In a four-page letter explaining the rejection, obtained by Syracuse.com town building inspector Reay Walker cited numerous deficiencies, including insufficient planning for medical care, traffic control, crowd control, and security.

Walker also noted that the town requires applications for a temporary event permit to be filed at least 120 days before the event, which Woodstock organizers failed to do.

“Of course, since this application is filed only 35 days before the event, it is untimely and rejected for that reason, as well as all the other deficiencies,” Walker said, per Syracuse.com.

Organizers for the festival, which is scheduled to take place from August 16-18, have formally appealed the second permit rejection but Town Attorney Vincent Rossi told the newspaper that a hearing on the appeal was unlikely to happen before next Tuesday.

Festival organizers could also pursue a lawsuit in state Supreme Court but have yet to file, Syrcause.com reported.
