(CelebrityAccess) — Organizers for the Woodstock 50 festival are reportedly in negotiations with several potential venues to host the recently displaced festival.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, those potential venues include Vernon Downs, a racino, hotel and harness horse racing track in Vernon, Oneida County.
Stephen Donnelly, of Vernon Downs, confirmed to the Journal that the track is in the early stages of negotiations to host the festival.
Donnelly also said that the racetrack was one of a few organizations that are being considered” to host the festival.
“Given the time frame, we anticipate a decision will be made quickly,” Donnelly told The Journal. “Obviously, we can get it ready.”
Organizers for the troubled festival were left scrambling earlier this month after Watkins Glen announced they were terminating their agreement to host the festival. At the same time, the fest’s production partner, CID Entertainment, announced they were dropping out of the event.
CelebrityAccess has also heard an unconfirmed rumor that Citi Field, the Flushing Meadows stadium that serves as a home of the New York Mets may also be under consideration.
In theory, the stadium might be a viable alternative and more centrally located to potential ticketbuyers and existing infrastructure to support the festival, than locations farther upstate.
There also appears to be a window of opportunity, however brief, as the Mets are currently not scheduled to play home games during the week of the festival.
A rep from Woodstock 50 declined to comment.
