NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – Willie Nelson has canceled his tour due to “breathing problems,” following a performance with Alison Krauss in Toledo, Ohio earlier this week.

The 86-year-old singer-songwriter took to Twitter late Wednesday evening to apologize to fans saying: “To my fans, I’m sorry to cancel my tour, but I have a breathing problem that I need to have my doctor check out. I’ll be back. Love, Willie.”

Nelson was next scheduled to appear Friday in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while the tour was scheduled to run through to November 29 with a final concert taking place in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Update: Live Nation said the Outlaw Music Festival featuring Willie Nelson & Family, Bonnie Raitt, Phil Lesh & Friends and Alison Krauss will go on as scheduled on September 8.

“Unfortunately, Willie had to cancel a handful of shows in August, but he’ll see you on the road again starting in September for the Outlaw Music Festival Tour,” Live Nation officials said in a news release.

As of yet, there has been no word from Farm Aid if Nelson will be able to participate in the benefit concert. Willie is on the organization’s board of directors and has been announced as a headliner for this year’s event, which is scheduled to take place on September 21, at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin.
