Tyga Signs With Columbia Records in Multi-Million Dollar Deal

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Tyga has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music.

In a recent interview with Variety, the rapper said his decision to sign with the major was fuelled by a desire to reach a wider global audience. “I have a lot of fans worldwide — in places I’ve never been like South America, and in places I have been like Asia and Europe. [Sony] can help bring that to a larger scale. Doing it independently, you don’t really have those teams to help worldwide. Sony, if you look at the history from what they’ve done from Pharrell to Beyonce to Adele — then you look at Lil Nas X, one of their new artists that’s blown up this year — they’ve done a lot for artists globally, for their brand. That’s why I wanted to partner up with them.”

Tyga, who made a major comeback earlier this year following the release of his six-times platinum single “Taste” featuring Offset, has also found success with hits including “Dip” featuring Nicki Minaj and YG’s “Go Loko.” His seventh studio album, Legendary, was released independently in June via Last Kings and EMPIRE. The album featured collaborations with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and Gunna.
