LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) With Celine Dion moving away from her Las Vegas residency, the host venue of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is reportedly making some major changes.

The venue is expected to have a physical overhaul plus a major change in its organizational structure, according to Variety. The building and the residency concept are indelibly tied to promoter Concerts West and the company’s John Meglen, but the now-AEG subsidiary is expected to wrap its relationship with the venue’s host, Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The casino will now handle management and operating duties will be handled by Live Nation, the trade magazine reported.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old, 4,300-seat facility, facing increasing competition, will get an estimated “quarter billion dollar” overhaul, Caesars Palace’s regional president Gary Selesner said during a tour of the Colosseum, according to Variety, adding that “these improvements will lift it to a whole new level.”

Caesars Entertainment has more than 40 venues in the U.S. and says it is the third-largest promoter after Live Nation and AEG. It is not only expanding the Colosseum but Zappos at Planet Hollywood.

The Colosseum will be under the stewardship of Jason Gastwirth, who was named president of entertainment for Ceasars last year. Refurbishing will include upgrades to the Colosseum’s audio, lighting, and video, according to Variety. The venue’s longtime GM, Edward “Tex” Dike, will continue with his current duties.

AEG will continue to promote shows at Caesars venues, including an upcoming James Taylor residency, according to Variety.

“This is a relatively small town as far as that’s concerned. Our goal is to have good relationships with everybody,” Gastwirth said.
