San Diego-Area PAC Prepares For Fall Debut

EL CAJON, Calif. (CelebrityAccess) The San Diego-area Magnolia Performing Arts Center is on course for its fall opening.

The facility in El Cajon, Calif., was once known as the East County Performing Arts Center before it was closed about a decade ago. Live Nation inked a five-year deal with the city in 2017 to run the center; the city has spent about $8 million to prepare the reopening, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Crews have reportedly been working on the three-floor building, installing a new HVAC system, an ADA-approved elevator, new carpeting, a lobby bar, and updated restrooms, plus adding new coats of paint. A new merch area is being built near the entrance, plus the crews are working on a new kitchen and food prep area.

The existing seats will now have new armrests and cup holders, and the orchestra pit is being turned into a six-row, VIP area, according to the paper. There will be several “green rooms” and crew-only rooms with showers, big-screen TVs, and a washer and dryer. The load-in area will now include secure, private access, according to the Union-Tribune.

No performances have been announced but previous performers include Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, and Michael Franks. Live Nation is expected to bring in 50 acts annually.
