Saint Dog, Founding Member Of Kottonmouth Kings, Dead At 44

(CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Steven Thronson, better known by his stage name Saint Dog, and one of the founders of the rock-rap fusion group Kottonmouth Kings, has died. He was 44.

His passing was announced by his former bandmates on social media. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Thronson, along with Brad “Daddy X” Xavier, Dustin “D-Loc” Miller, and Brad “Lou Dog” Nowell formed the group in 1996 and quickly gained a reputation for their cannabis activisim and for the penchant of incorporating lements of other genres, including psychedelic rock, reggae, dubstep, bluegrass, punk, and jam band music into their California rap aesthetic.

They broke out to a wider audience in 1998 with their Suburban Noize debut “Royal Highness” scoring a hit with the single “Dog’s Life.”

During his tenure with the group, Thronson appeared on multiple albums, as well as three solo albums of his own.

He reuinited with the Kottonmouth Kings in 2018 for the release of their most recent album “Kingdom Come.”
