LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — As late night host Conan O’Brien prepares to shift to a half-hour format starting in January, his show will be dispensing with regular musical performances.

According to Variety, the change will see producer and music booker Roey Hershkovitz exit from the program, though he may do consulting work on special musical content from time to time.

Hershkovitz has been part of the Conan team since 1999, first as an intern, and then, starting in 2000, as music coordinator for NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” In 2010, when the creative team decamped to TBS, he made the move with them.

O’Brien revealed in May that the show was changing to a half-hour format and would focus more tightly on comedy. In May, Conan said the show will still air four nights a week but feature fewer celebrity guests and instead provide a platform for stand up comedy from up-and-coming comics, as well as off-site segments.

“Since I inherited my Late Night show in 1993, TV has changed exponentially. I’d like to think I have evolved with many of these changes, but now it’s time to take the next leap. A half-hour show will give me the time to do a higher percentage of the comedy in, and out, of the studio that I love and that seems to resonate in this new digital world,” O’Brien said in a statement announcing the changes. “It’s still going to be me hosting a very silly show, but I want segments on my half-hour program to link to digital content, deepening the experience for my younger fans, and confusing my older ones.”

Recent musical guests on “Conan” include Shakey Graves, Dawes, Bush, Tuxedo Zapp, Johnny Marr, Neko Case and ODESZA.
