ERIE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Troy Shafer, a reality television star who for two seasons hosted the DIY network show Nashville Flipped, has died. He was 38.

According to an obituary published by the Erie Times-News, Shafer passed away “unexpectedly” on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Per the Nashville Tennessean, the Erie coroner’s office has opened an inquest into the cause of Shafer’s death.

Shafer, who graduated from Penn State Behrend School of Business, moved to Nashville with musical aspirations and performed with the Nashville-based singer-songwriter Billy Falcon.

However, a chance meeting with “American Pickers” co-host Mike Wolfe in a Nashville Wal-Mart parking lot inspired Shafer to venture into reality television and he managed to parlay a side business of renovating houses into the DIY series.

Nashville Flipped ran for Discovery’s DIY Network for a total of 17 episodes across two seasons in 2016 and 2017.

Shafer is survived by his parents, as well as a brother, a niece several aunts and uncles, his obituary said.
