LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — The UK-based Official Charts Company announced that they are making a significant revision to their metrics with the addition of streaming video to their officials singles countdown data.

Streaming services who will have video streams counted for aggregation into the charts include Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and Tidal, who have added music video streaming to their platform over the past year.

The data, which is compiled by the Official Charts Company, is showcased by BBC Radio 1 in a countdown every Friday afternoon.

“This is a significant step for the UK and ensures The Official Chart continues to be the most comprehensive and trusted chart in the UK, bar none. Consumption of recorded music via more than 15,000 retailers, download stores and streaming services of all kinds contribute to the weekly chart countdown,” said Official Charts CEO Martin Talbot.

The change comes as services such as Apple Music and Spotify add video to their platform and as YouTube launches their first subscription service in the UK.

The new rules come are the latest change for the ratings company, which in 2015, shifted its countdown from Sunday to Friday, and added streaming metrics to its calculations.
