(CelebrityAccess) — A court on Wednesday signed off on a massive $800 million payout from casino company MGM Resorts International and its insurer to settle ongoing litigation with more than 4,400 relatives and victims of the deadly Route 91 Harvest music festival shooting in 2017.

The shooting, which occurred on Oct. 1, 2017, when a gunman with a collection of high-power weapons opened fire on the crowd at the music festival from a 32nd floor window of the Mandalay Bay which was overlooking the event.

The attack left 61 dead, including the alleged shooter, and 847 injured, including 411 who had been injured by gunfire.

In the settlement, MGM Resorts, which owns both the festival ground and the Mandalay Bay hotel, acknowledged no liability but will pay $49 million with its insurance companies obligated for the remaining $751 million US.

“We are grateful that the decision brings families, victims and the community closer to closure,” the company said in a statement. It noted the anniversary of the Oct. 1, 2017, event, calling it “a time of great sadness and reflection.”

Payments expected by the end of the year.
