Juice WRLD’s Family Issues A Statement Following His Passing

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) — Juice WRLD’s family has issued a statement in the wake of the 21-year-old rapper’s sudden death on Sunday, addressing his prescription drug abuse.

In the statement to TMZ, Juice WRLD’s mother Carmella Wallace wrote: “We loved Jarad with all of our hearts and cannot believe our time with him has been cut short. As he often addressed in his music and to his fans, Jarad battled with prescription drug dependency.”

“Addiction knows no boundaries and its impact goes way beyond the person fighting it. Jarad was a son, brother, grandson, friend and so much more to so many people who wanted more than anything to see him defeat addiction.”

“We know that Jarad’s legacy of love, joy and emotional honesty will live on.”

Juice WRLD, whose real name was Jared Higgens, died on Sunday after reportedly suffering seizures and a cardiac arrest at Chicago’s Midway Airport. At the time of his death, Chicago police and federal agents were in the process of searching the private jet he and his entourage had traveled on where a large quantity of marijuana, drugs and firearms were located.

TMZ reported that unnamed law enforcement sources have said that Juice WRLD had swallowed “several” Percocet pills, a prescription opioid pain medication, when he leared that the plane was to be searched.
