CelebrityAccess is pleased to welcome comedian, performer, and podcaster Paul Mecurio to the platform.

An Emmy & Peabody Award winning writer, Mecurio began a career on Wall Street before he was bitten by the comedy bug, writing material on spec that was later used by Jay Leno on the Tonight Show.

In 1996, Paul landed a role on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show as a member of the award-winning writing team, earning both Peabody for the show’s coverage of the 2000 election cycle and an Emmy the following year for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program.

Paul appeared on camera for the show as well, including as a correspondent and on “The Daily Show” segment, “Second Opinion,” which cast Paul as a representative of a health maintenance organization, humorously highlighting the perverse incentives of the for-profit healthcare industry.

He went on to host his own shows on Comedy Central, and HBO including a dedicated “Comedy Central Special,” made several appearances on “The Late Show w/Stephen Colbert,” “The Daily Show,” “The CBS Late, Late Show,” HBO, “The Tonight Show,“ ESPN, Showtime, NBC’s “Fridays,” and “The Joke Show” and VH-I Clip Shows among others.

Paul has also appeared as a commentator on numerous news programs such as “CBS Sunday Morning,” CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and CBS News, “Red Eye” (Fox News),” VH-1, “Dr. Drew,” “The Meredith Vieira Show,” “Outnumbered” (Fox News), “Kennedy,” “Showbiz Tonight,” “Viewpoint,” “Katie Couric,” “Hannity,” “Fox and Friends,” “Bethenny,” “Real Story – Fox News” and “SportsNation” on ESPN.

Mecurio has performed at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, films such as “Chuck,” starring Golden Globe Winner, Liev Schreiber, and opposite comedy legend John Cleese on the ABC sitcom Wednesday at 9:30.

Mecurio has written, produced, and directed five short films, the latest of which, Gloves, an off-center dark comedy has been screened at several film festivals, including The US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, the Toronto International Film Festival, The Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, and the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.

For his podcast, Mecurio interviews a who’s who of A-list guests drawn from the worlds of entertainment, pop culture, music, politics, science, sports and more, including Stephen Colbert, Katie Couric, Bryan Cranston, Judd Apatow, Kristen Chenoweth, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jay Leno, Bill Burr, Adam McKay, Jeff
