QUEENS, NY (CelebrityAccess) —  In what should be a surprise to no one by now, organizers for the Meadows Music & Arts Festival announced that the event was on a hiatus for 2018.

2018 would have been the third year for the music fest, which is produced by Founders Entertainment, the company behind the Governors Ball Festival.

In a post to their website, festival organizers Founders Entertainment wrote:

“After careful consideration, we have decided to take 2018 off and focus our efforts on returning in 2019. Our goal from day one has been to create a marquee, multi-day, fall music festival in Queens. After two great years at Citi Field, we were excited to shift our venue focus entirely to Flushing Meadows Corona Park – the location we always hoped to move to in year 3.

“However, after review of our application by NYC Parks, we were not able to obtain a workable multi-day permit for a 2018 festival in the park. Our sights are set on The Meadows in 2019, and we look forward to working together with all city partners and agencies.”

Initially created after Kanye West’s set at the 2016 edition of Governors Ball was cut short by inclement weather, the fest has since been staged at Citi Field complex at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens.

Live Nation acquired Founders Entertainment in 2016.

Last year, the festival took place from Sept. 15th – 17th and featured Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Future, Nas, Weezer, M.I.A., Erykah Badu, Migos, among others.
