CLEVELAND (CelebrityAccess) — Myron “Mike” Belkin Sr., the noted Cleveland concert promoter and founder of Belkin Productions, has died. He was 83.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Belkin’s passing was confirmed by his son Michael Belkin Jr., who said that his father died as due to complications from Alzheimer’s.
Mike and his brother Jules launched Belkin productions in the early 1970s, initially operating the business from their father’s clothing store in downtown Cleveland.
The Belkins produced some of the biggest concerts to hit the market, including the World Series of Rock concerts at the old Municipal Stadium and the Rolling Stones in 1978, which is reputed to have grossed more than a million dollars.
Belkin Productions also managed artists, including James Gang, which helped them to secure successful tours beyond the Cleveland market.
In 2001, the Belkins sold their concert company to Robert Sillerman’s SFX for a reported $11 million, eventually bringing the concert promoter into the Live Nation fold. Following the sale, both Michael and his son Michael Belkin Jr. continued to work for Live Nation, serving as Cleveland’s regional office for the promoter giant.
“I enjoyed every moment of everything I did, whether it was managing my bands, the Michael Stanley Band, Donnie Iris . . . and booking and promoting concerts,” Belkin said in a 2017 interview to promote his memoir “Mike Belkin: Socks, Sports, Rock & Art.”
Services will be held Friday, June 8th in Cleveland. The family asked that well-wishers donate to wish may contribute to the / Cleveland Chapter or the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in lieu of flowers.
