Willie Nelson To Receive Gershwin Prize

WASHINGTON D.C. (CelebrityAccess) – Neil Young, Paul Simon, Roseanne Cash and Alison Krauss are among the artists who have been announced as performers for a gala event as country legend Willie Nelson is awarded with the Library of Congress's Gershwin Prize.

The invite-only award ceremony will take place at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. on Nov. 18th. Other artists scheduled to perform include Leon Bridges, Jamey Johnson, Raul Malo, Edie Brickell, Ana Gabriel, Buckwheat Zydeco and Promise of the Real, a rock band fronted by Nelson’s son, Lukas Nelson.

While the event won't be broadcast live, it will be aired by PBS on January 15th.

Nelson will be the first country artist to be awarded with The Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, which "celebrates the work of an artist whose career reflects lifetime achievement in promoting song as a vehicle of musical expression and cultural understanding." – Staff Writers
