Will The Real MF Doom Please Stand Up

ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Many concert-goers at a December 13th concert, which allegedly featured hip hop artist MF Doom, went away feeling less than satisfied after the performer appeared onstage masked and apparently lip-synced his entire set. The scenario reportedly led many attendees to question if the performer had sent a stand-in in his place.

"It was a pretty surreal situation," promoter Randy Castello, told entertainment blog Creative Loafing Atlanta, "I'm 100 percent positive it was an impostor."

To compound issues, Castello asserts that after a 20 minute exploration of MF Doom's catalog, the show was over and Doom, if it was in fact the performer, and his entourage left, taking with them the all the proceeds from the door rather than the 70% stipulated in the contract.

This experience led Castello to launch an Internet vendetta campaign against the performer. On the club's MySpace page, he posted a bulletin which read, in part "This was by far one of the single worst experiences I've had as a club promoter and I sincerely apologize if you walked away feeling cheated. To make matters even worse MF DOOMS [sic] appointed doorman took off with all the money from the door after the show!"

Doom has garnered a somewhat dubious reputation for reliability. Last year, he ditched a New York show in September reportedly falsely claiming to "be in the hospital, fighting for his life" and then canceled another string of 8 dates.

Other allegedly chicanery by the performer include apparently sending other people pretending to be the performer to gigs, including on in SF that rankled fans and even to magazine cover shoots. Elemental Magazine featured what they thought was MF Doom on their cover in 2005, only to get a letter from the performer, stating that the individual on the cover was in fact, hype man Big Benn Kling-on.
