Warner Music's Topsify Playlist Chief Exits To Launch New Venture

(Hypebot) – Three years after selling Playlist.net to Warner Music Group and establishing the major's own Topsify playlist brand, Kieron Donoghue is leaving the label group to start a new venture. The future of streaming-focused WMG label Artists To Watch, which he led and has logged 50 million streams, remains unclear.

Kieron Donoghue, who ran Warner Music Group's Topsify playlist brand and Artists To Watch streaming record label has exited the company after three years. "My next step will be to launch my own venture again," wrote Donoghue, who was Warmer Music's Vice President, Global Playlists Strategy & Curation, "3 years in a corporate was great but I have that entrepreneurial itch to scratch."

WMG has not issued a formal announcement, but Donoghue posted this on social media on Oct. 20th:

Celebrating my last day at Warner Music today.

Going from a business I created in 2009 when Spotify was also a startup to joining a major record company in 2014 – it’s been an amazing ride.

Establishing Topsify as Warner’s playlist brand globally across all platforms and establishing a streaming strategy for a major record company has been challenging at times but immensely rewarding.

I’m also especially proud of the innovation around the Artists To Watch Records label that has generated over 50 million Spotify streams with zero budget.

My next step will be to launch my own venture again, 3 years in a corporate was great but I have that entrepreneurial itch to scratch.

Huge thanks to my Warner family and especially my Topsify team for making these 3 years as awesome as possible.
