Wadsworth Out At EMI

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Shakeups at EMI continue as it was announced that chairman and CEO Tony Wadsworth would be resigning from his post, effective immediately.

According to Billboard, his replacement for UK/Ireland A&R duties will be Roger Ames, who has served as head of EMI Music North America since April of 2007.

All other operational aspects formerly under Wadsworth's direction will now be handled by Mike Clasper who was brought on board in November to assist in retooling. Clasper was formerly the CEO of BAA, a major airport group and president of global homecare at Proctor & Gamble, positions that will suit him well in the music biz.

Wadsworth's departure was described by EMI as a part of the "ongoing restructuring of EMI Music" which has been taking place since the troubled label was purchased by private equity firm Terra Firma last August and has been the frequent subject of major restructuring and layoff rumours.

Clasper in particular seems to specialize in transitional phases of business and some observers have suggested that his appointment is indicative that the highly-dynamic situation at the label may well continue for the immediate future. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
