Vote For Change Tour Now To Wind Down In Washington, DC On October 11

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The 36 city, 12 state Vote For Change tour will wind down at the MCI Center in Washington, DC on October 11 instead of Miami, FL. As with all Vote For Change shows, the concert is presented by MoveOn PAC to benefit America Coming Together (ACT). The finale show will bring 13 of the Vote For Change artists together for a four hour performance: Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Dave Matthews Band, the Dixie Chicks, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Jurassic 5, Keb' Mo', Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Pearl Jam, and R.E.M. Tickets go on sale on September 18.

"We all wanted to come back together for a finale show after we had finished our separate tour dates," said Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam. "We thought our nation's capitol seemed like the most ideal place to do that."

"The power of music is coming to Washington to liven the political debate about the need to change the direction of our country. This will be the grand finale to inspire and reinvigorate the democratic political world before we head into the final weeks of the campaign," said Ellen Malcolm, president of ACT.

"This finale concert will clearly be a historic event, and we're honored and grateful to be presenting it with so many world-renowned artists," said Eli Pariser, executive director of MoveOn PAC. "After four years of deficits, layoffs, and war, this call for new leadership will signal to millions of Americans that on November 2nd, they need to get out and vote for change."

Conceived by a loose coalition of musicians four months ago, Vote for Change is a multi-city, multi-artist tour that will include approximately 34 shows in 36 cities in 12 states over the course of 11 days. The upcoming election provides everyone an opportunity to change the direction our country is headed and to elect a government that is just, rational and respectful of the views and rights of the people it serves. This coalition of artists wants to be a part of that change," said Gossard. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
